The Aces play all variety of blues, but specialize in the Chicago sound pioneered by Little Walter, Muddy Waters, and Junior Wells. LCPH is a not-for-profit clinic located on Lamu Island, off the northern coast of Kenya. Though Lamu town has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, due to its continual occupation for over 700 years, the community continues to struggle with poverty, lack of clean drinking water, unsanitary waste disposal, and inadequate healthcare. While diseases such as Malaria remain common, chronic diseases such as Heart Disease and Diabetes are devastating the healthcare system.

Since 2011, LCPH has provided free year-round diagnostic screening and health education to the Lamu community. We believe that every patient who walks through our door is someone who deserves individual attention, the best possible treatment we can offer, and the time it takes to fully explain their illness, their treatment, and how it might be prevented in the future. We are committed to a community health model, which aims to enhance the health education level of the community across the lifespan ... and to do it free of charge.

In addition to offering on-site clinical consultation, health screening and health education, we also arrange home visits to the elderly and the very sick, and hope to begin offering mobile clinics to other parts of the Lamu archipelago.
For more about LCPH and the people of Lamu, visit www.lamuhealth.org.

The Heart for Africa Benefit Concert & Marketplace is our annual fundraiser for the clinic. Funding to keep LCPH open 6 days a week, year-round is raised almost entirely at this one event. Your generous support will continue to provide life-saving medical services and health education to this otherwise underserved community.

THE MUSIC: THE BLUE ACES

THE FOOD: EPIPHANY FARMS
We are so very pleased to have EPIPHANY FARMS providing our menu for this year’s fundraiser! Their kind & generous donation of “Blues BBQ” fare will surely be one of the highlights of the evening (and your meal is included in your ticket purchase!)

MARKETPLACE : MERCHANDISE & SERVICES

As always, our MARKETPLACE will highlight local & African merchandise (such as beautiful handmade jewelry, clothing & artwork). Last year, along with the products for sale, we began offering an eclectic array of “SERVICES” that could be purchased in support of LCPH. Pilates classes, bicycle repair, workshops in Swahili beadwork & woodcarving, a guided tour of Chicago, tree pruning, painting classes … even a 3-day backpacking excursion … all proved to be very popular items.

This year we’ll once again be presenting a wide range of services for you to choose from. You’ll have the chance to select from a 5-course gourmet Swahili dinner, or a 3-day guided birding trip to Wisconsin, a canoeing adventure, professional bicycle repair, Pilates classes, or a day of tree & shrub pruning.

There’ll be something for everyone, but please COME EARLY so you don’t miss your opportunity. These services sold out quickly last year!

Remember, all proceeds raised from the Heart for Africa Concert & Marketplace go directly to fund another year of vital health services at LCPH!
